Where GMT prices are heading this year

Two-timezone steel has been the market's bellwether for a decade. Here is what the trading desk is actually seeing on supply, waitlists and settled prices.

Supply is loosening — slowly

Authorized-dealer allocations improved through spring, and for the first time in three years we are seeing clean, current-production GMTs offered to us within weeks of retail purchase. That extra supply lands directly on the secondary market and takes the froth off asking prices.

But full sets hold the line

The discount is concentrated in watch-only examples. Box-and-papers sets with warranty cards dated inside twelve months are still trading within a few points of their 2025 peaks — collectors pay for provenance before they pay for condition.

What we advise

If you are selling a watch-only example, sooner beats later. If you are holding a full set, there is no rush — and if you are buying, insist on the card date. The spread between a stale set and a fresh one is the cheapest insurance in the market.
